There are a few locations and venues in Colorado that never get old. The natural beauty (year round) and hospitality keep us coming back again and again. Devil's Thumb Ranch is one of those venues- it's simply incredible! Tara & Dale had been guests at a few weddings we had planned for friends of theirs throughout the past few years, so when it came time to plan their wedding, at the ever fabulous Devil's Thumb, we were beyond excited to finally work with these two and help bring their wedding vision to life! In such a spectacular setting as this, we knew we wanted an organic approach to highlight what was already there - lots of whites and greenery created a lush, natural feel without distracting from the striking mountain views and Colorado architecture. Combined with special personal touches, I am SO in love with how it came together!
It's pretty rare that a bride wants her maids in white, but I LOVED that T asked her ladies to don a white dress of their choosing. Their personalities shined through in their attire and paired beautifully with the white floral provided by the amazing ladies at Plum Sage. With the guys in navy, I loved that Dale opted to wear a tie to differentiate himself a bit- everyone looked so sharp, and this crew had so much fun celebrating the entire weekend!
We had a bit of a moody, rainy start to the day, so as the afternoon went on, and the moisture continued, we were prepared to move to our plan B. BUT I am happy to say, that just in time, the clouds parted, and the sun peeked out, and we were able to do the ceremony outside as planned creating the most beautiful magical moments for all who witnessed.
We're always in love with the one of a kind, unique touches that make a wedding oh so special. For this wedding weekend, one of the very best details of this wedding was the paper. Tara's dad is a talented artist and hand water colored the invitations, place cards, menus, and the most incredible welcome book I've ever seen! Each table was a Colorado wildflower, and guests were directed with these keepsake paintings to their place at simple but elegant tables in the Broad Axe Barn. This special touch was so personal and well executed, and offered a little pop of color in our otherwise white and greenery reception.
T&D, congratulations to you, and THANK YOU for allowing me to be a part of this incredible wedding weekend celebration. It was so so fun for me to work with you and your families and see this all come together in such a special way! I loved our planning dates with our dogs playing in the background, and I'm happy and blessed to call you friends after all is said and done. Love you guys, congrats and best wishes!
