wedding gift giving guide | TIPS from B&B

Wedding season is officially underway, and it seems like every week there’s another to attend!  While we’re loving all the LOVE, giving gifts for each of these events can be overwhelming! To make things simple, we're sharing some great tips for gift giving this wedding season.

Before we get down to choosing a gift, be sure to assess your budget. If you’re in the wedding, you may be spending a lot already so don’t feel like you have to go even more above and beyond with your gift! The couple is grateful to have you a part of their special day, and wouldn’t expect you to go broke on their behalf! $50 is a great starting point for any gift, but you may want to spend a little more depending on your relationship with the bride and/or groom.

Second, stumped on what to gift?  That's an easy fix: Buy off of the registry! Wedding registries like Zola will include all the gifts that the couple really wants, ranging from tangible items, to experiences, to honeymoon funds!

If you’d rather skip all the guesswork, and just send the couple a check, that’s an awesome gift too! Who wouldn't love that?!

It's no secret weddings can be expensive, and the newlyweds are also thinking about their futures together beyond the “I Do’s.” Hello, honeymoon, home renovations, and starting a family?! The couple would surely love some extra cash to pay for these expenses so if you decide tangible gift giving isn’t your forte, checks and cash funds will do the trick!

Do you have any other gift giving tips our fellow guests should know about? Let us know down in the comments!

This eclectic wedding came together so beautifully, we love this couple and all of the special details Amanda & Will incorporated into their special day!  With a beautiful venue like Denver's Blanc, a blank canvas, it was fun to pull in so much color and texture to really add to the guest experience and liven up the space!  One of our favorite photographers, Daylene Wilson, captured these two and their day so eloquently, we adore how these images turned out!

From the moment we met Katie and Shaemus, we were immediately impressed. This Denver power couple is not only strikingly beautiful, but stylish, cool, and crazy in love to boot! We instantly fell for their colorful personalities, balanced by a certain soft, sentimental side, and were inspired to design a wedding that reflected this modern couple.

We knew we wanted a place as hip as the bride and groom, so we opted for a non-traditional wedding venue—City Hall, a Downtown Denver night club, which features a retractable roof, graffiti wall, and built in stage (which is perfect for a band and a great dance party).

We were so honored to work with this wonderful couple to design a bohemian barn wedding chock-full of sophisticated, personalized, and special sentimental details.  With a vendor dream team collaboration, we are so proud of the outcome and the way our vision so artfully came to live! We invite you to check out the stunning images (& video!) and fall in love with this detail-rich Colorado wedding and this darling couple... love, LOVE!

winter wedding style | BRECKENRIDGE, COLORADO

We have a serious love affair with winter weddings.  Living in colorful Colorado, weddings are gorgeous year-round, but there's just something so romantic about creating cozy celebrations in those cooler months!

Since we don't get to plan as many snowy wonderland weddings as we'd like, we decided to curate a little style shoot to showcase a lovely bride & her maids in some gorgeous winter looks with some of our favorite vendors.

We're proud of how this all came together, and thrilled to say this was just featured on Couture Colorado Weddings this week!  Check out more of the loveliness on their wonderful blog here.

union station wedding reception | DENVER, COLORADO

union station wedding reception | DENVER, COLORADO

We really have the best gig in the world.  Like, seriously, we pinch ourselves daily that this is actually our job!  Working with D&D on both of their wedding celebrations was a dream.  First we planned one elegant, intimate ceremony & reception in a mountain-top estate in beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado (check out the deets on that one here!), THEN, we got to plan a fun and fabulous city reception in the heart of Downtown Denver at the amazing  Union Station- what a treat!

To maintain some continuity, for both events we stuck with a color palette that the bride loved. Inspired by orange calla lilies (given to her by her groom through the course of their courtship), we paired an unexpected rich purple, complemented by black, white, and touches of gold. It looked awesome and unique in both spaces and while different, we absolutely loved both celebrations!

When they first came to me, D&D wanted to plan not one, but TWO wonderful celebrations. First, an intimate affair with 50 guests at a private estate in beautiful Breckenridge, CO. Followed by a fabulous, fun reception for 150 guests at Denver's coolest hotspot, Union Station.  (Psst, See more on that wonderful event here!)

This savvy bride works in the event industry, so she was clear on what she loved and didn't love from the beginning. To maintain some continuity, for both events we stuck with a unique color palette that the bride loved. Inspired by orange calla lilies (given to her by her groom through the course of their courtship), we paired an unexpected rich purple, complemented by black, white, and touches of gold.

We embraced the mountain setting of this private estate and added touches of vintage and understated elegance to soften and elevate the feel of this Colorado setting.  One of many details to enhance the comfort and experience for guests at this spring mountain-top wedding, was luxurious faux fur blankets to cozy up for the outdoor ceremony, and later around the fire pit as guests enjoyed making s'mores.  It doesn't get much more Colorado than that!

Every once in a while I get the pleasure of being around couples who are so crazy in love it really gets me.  As a hopeless romantic, I live to know this kind of connection exists.  These two are so into each other, it's both a pleasure & a joy to be in their presence.  So it goes without saying, planning this classic, elegant Denver wedding for two love birds was the most fun ever!

For B & L's Denver wedding, we designed knowing we wanted to achieve a vibe of classic glamour & romance.  With personalized, fresh details woven throughout, and a contemporary spin on old hollywood, we curated this urban affair to feel fresh and intimate with just the perfect amount of glam.

Complete with amazing food stations featuring the couple's favorite urban fare, paired with hand selected wines sourced from vineyards all over the world, guests enjoyed a delightful food & beverage experience before dancing the night away!

The fabulous Sarah Perkins so perfectly documented their love and their day.  Check out these beautiful images & fall in love!

As wedding season slows down, and summer comes to a close, it's fun to finally start appreciating the most gorgeous photos and memories we have acquired from this summer's successful events...  Get excited, lots more lovely to come!

Today I'm very excited to share because this is one wedding that is very special to me.  I mean, honestly, they all are. In different ways. {& I'm really not just saying that.} Every one holds a place in my heart. I LOVE what I do!!  That said, there are a few couples for whom I feel exceptional gratitude.  Those who took a chance early on, hiring me right from the get-go, trusting me with every detail of their most special day based solely on a recco when my business was barely an infant.

To M & M, and ALL of my loyal clients, I'm humbled and grateful that you picked me, and I would not be here if it weren't for brave souls like you taking the chance- THANK YOU!!!

ecclectic urban wedding | DENVER, COLORADO

ecclectic urban wedding | DENVER, COLORADO

I feel like I say this after each and every wedding, but I swear it's 100% true!  This couple is seriously amazing, and I loved every single second of working with them to create a beautiful eclectic urban wedding in May in our beloved Mile High City!

While their love story began in New York City, and they currently reside in Manhattan, the bride is from Colorado, and the groom from Brazil, so these two decided to plan TWO weddings in both wonderful places!

Over the course of a year, we got to work with E&S planning their Denver affair from afar. Through lots of video chats, a couple visits, and many many email exchanges, together we collaborated to design a beautiful celebration for everyone to enjoy!

The bride works in fashion in New York and made her own dress- how fabulous is that?!  We simply love the fabric, and the unexpected black trim and it was the perfect inspiration for the styling of the event!  Like the non-traditional gown, we selected the most interesting and unique blooms and succulents to adorn the feasting tables at blanc.  Colorful Proteas, Orchids, and funky foliage lived amongst a collection of mercury and colored glass, and bevy of candles.

Special touches were woven throughout and we gave guests a true taste of Colorado with locally sourced welcome bags, menu and beverages.  Lots of hand-crafted pieces enhanced the personality of this event featuring custom made "Steed" planters, a nod to the bride's moniker, a hand-painted cake topper to look like the bride and groom, an interactive coloring guestbook, and an amazing photo booth for fun!

So many wonderful details made this wedding amazing, but the best part?  The love between these two.  Honestly, both were positively glowing the entire day, and the warmth and love in the room was a pleasure to be amongst.  I cry at most every wedding, and this one was no exception, but even a couple months later, I still think about the way he looked at her throughout the evening- they're so lucky to have found one another!

Check out the story of the day so eloquently told by Rouxby Photography- we are in love with this wedding and this couple!  Such a wonderful day.

black tie denver wedding | DENVER, COLORADO

black tie denver wedding | DENVER, COLORADO

Designing this black tie, March wedding was such a treat! Camille & Daniel are adorable, have great taste, and from the beginning we had a blast working together to plan an elegant affair for their guests to enjoy in the city of Denver.

On a perfect sunny day, with spring in full bloom, the bride & groom exchanged vows in a traditional Korean ceremony at their family church.  Immediately following, guests were treated to a stunning reception at the Denver Center of Performing Arts, in Seawell Grand Ballroom.

For a fresh, modern and formal take on spring, we designed with a simple palette of white, gold and emerald green, and played with lots of foliage to complement beautiful white seasonal blossoms and gold accents.  We just love how the details all came together, and how eloquently their story was captured by the talented Julianne Brasher!

Assisting this wonderful couple with their March mountain wedding was an absolute dream! Jessica was the perfect bride... so sweet, so organized, and SO crafty!  Seriously, ya'll, she handcrafted so many amazing and thoughtful details for this wedding!

With most of their family and friends visiting from out of town, these two took extra care to orchestrate a beautiful Colorado weekend Estes Park for all of their guests to enjoy.  With stunning backdrops, locally inspired food & beverage, complementary rustic chic decor, and lively entertainment an amazing wedding weekend culminated with the most beautiful and fun mountain wedding celebration!

intimate fall cocktail reception | DENVER, COLORADO

intimate fall cocktail reception | DENVER, COLORADO

I have had the pleasure of knowing the bride, Ashley, for years through mutual friends, so when she contacted us to plan an intimate reception in Denver celebrating her hometown Nebraska nuptials, of course I was thrilled to help!

To contrast her spring garden wedding in the midwest, we selected an urban, Denver venue in the month of November, along with a rich color palette featuring merlot against ivory, blush and peach, and lots of gold accents and candlelight.  The design created a warm, inviting environment, and paired beautifully with a locally sourced, seasonally inspired menu, complete with a pie bar for dessert!

Everything came together so beautifully for this special evening!  I LOVE that the bride opted to wear a non-traditional cocktail dress to complement the event.  She owned her style and looked amazing in this Catherine Malandrino peplum number!  Paired with a vintage fur, it was a classic, lovely, bridal look.

Have we mentioned that we love our jobs?  Because we do.  Big time.  I feel so fortunate to do what I love every day, and one of the very best things about it is working with the most wonderful people!

These two. Are seriously amazing.  Their love story, their relationship, and the crew of family & friends that surround them are all inspiring.  Everything, and everyone all came together so beautifully for their mountain wedding celebration in Estes Park!

We literally love everything about this wedding, and this couple!  We invite you to check out the pretty pics {and the fabulous tear-jerking video!} and feel the love for this romantic mountain wedding affair!

Working with Lara & Ryan planning their Colorado rustic ranch wedding in Steamboat Springs was a dream.  Not only are they both warm, genuine, and fun people, but it was clear to see their mutual admiration for each other (love that!), and they were consistently upbeat, enjoying the planning process every step of the way!

We invite you to check out the beauty of the day captured in the best possible way by the talented Ryan Olsen Photographer!

Styled shoots are SO much fun!  While they are a big commitment for the contributing vendors, they give us an opportunity to exercise creative freedom and think out-of-the-box with themes, concepts & design... Always such a treat for us creative types!

Together with the lovely and talented McCall of Lucky Malone Photography,  we collaborated to dream up this Retro Moto fall shoot over lattes on Larimer Square.  We had an absolute blast planning the shoot- selecting the perfect partners, design elements, and all the amazing, yet non-traditional clothes & accessories (moto goggles, anyone?)!

love, LOVE! | lasting marriages

It's no secret we love LOVE.  & of course, weddings.  Weddings are the ultimate celebration of love, but after that, comes marriage...

Sadly, today, enduring, solid & loving marriages seem to be somewhat rare.  That said, I feel it's important to take a personal moment to honor the life & legacy of my wonderful grandparents and their epic love story.

My "Mogee & Pogee" were married for an unbelievable 68 years!  A few weeks ago, at 92 years young, my beautiful, fun, spunky grandmother passed away.  Only a short couple weeks later, her loyal life partner & soul mate, my warm, kind, gentle grandfather died of a heart attack at the age of 94.

As heartbreaking as it was to lose these two within a couple weeks, knowing they are re-united is comforting, beautiful, and inspiring all at the same time.  We are lucky to have enjoyed their presence, their bond, and their real-life love over the years. They will be sorely missed, but the legacy they have left behind is fairy-tale perfect.

Mog & Pog on their wedding day in 1946.  I cherish this photo. I love the timeless styling, but mostly their happy, handsome faces & the way they are holding hands.

Mog & Pog on their wedding day in 1946.  I cherish this photo. I love the timeless styling, but mostly their happy, handsome faces & the way they are holding hands.

In the spirit of appreciating lasting marriages, I find this is too cute not to share.  I am inspired by the captured magic of these real couples and their love and commitment. So special!

I would like to thank everyone for their condolences & well wishes during this difficult time.  We are blessed beyond belief and humbled by this enduring love story.  May we all be so lucky!
